NCR's Authentication and Legalization Services
The ability to transact international business has become increasingly important as our global marketplace grows in complexity and scale.
Access to foreign markets is often predicated on the production and legalization of documents. Identifying and obtaining the proper
authentication and legalization for your documents is a critical step in this process. Whether you are engaged in corporate,
intellectual property, or investment interests in established or emerging markets, National Corporate Research ("NCR")
offers competitively priced document services that facilitate the legalization process.
Corporate legal documents that are obtained from a public filing office or produced in the United States generally must be authenticated
by the U.S. Government and legalized by a foreign consulate before they can be presented in another country. The authentication and
legalization of documents can be rather involved; sometimes requiring review by as many as two state agencies, two federal agencies
and a foreign consulate or embassy. The number of agencies involved depends upon the country in which documents will be presented.
Countries that have signed on to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization permit a less complicated authentication
known as an apostille. (Registered clients can find a current list of these countries and territories, along with other helpful
links, on the "Corporate Reference Info and Links" page of our web site.)
Whatever your specific document needs happen to be, let NCR save you the time and effort that this process often demands.
Our offices around the country and in Washington, D.C. give us unique access to many foreign consulates and embassies while our
nationwide network of branch offices and correspondents provides immediate access to all state and federal agencies.
To take advantage of our authentication and legalization services, simply send us signed and notarized documents and identify the
country in which the documents will be presented. Our legalization specialists will manage your documents with the utmost care and
take the necessary steps to ensure that you meet your deadlines.
So... when your colleagues or counsel working on a deal in Brazil call late on Thursday requesting legalized certified copies of a
domestic U.S. entity and a Power of Attorney authorizing a designated person to execute contracts for a deal closing on Wednesday, don’t panic...
